Mood lightingThe aim of our research is to develop a series of products in which light can be used to add new dimensions to colour, dynamics and interactivity. ‘Reactive furniture’ is a fusion of design, user experience and time-based narrative leading to a new aesthetic challenge: one that values interaction and experience along with form. The built environment is progressively more shaped as a scenario of events and ‘mood furnishings’ are an answer to the continuous quest for interactivity in a society where media have a growing influence on our cities and aggregation spaces. The aim of our project it to explore emerging practices in trans-disciplinary design fields to merge digital technologies & virtual spaces with tangible and physical spatial experiences. Technology is not the focus of the research, the aim is rather to provoke memories, to elicit feelings of connected human experiences in a required-to-participate audience. Mood chair
Interactive furniture technically consists of partially translucent units, with LEDs, embedded micro-chips and appropriate sensors. These devices react to the colours that its sensors perceive from the environment translating them, with custom software we developed, into lighting effects for the furniture. Responsive installations can complement the architectural space: the idea is that digital interactive fixtures will contribute to create an innovative and high-quality environment responding to the behaviour of its users by visually expressing the activities surrounding them. Mood Chairs improves the legibility of a space: they can add attractiveness and enhance the experience of visitors in the identification of remarkable environments. Our Mood Chair offers exciting opportunities to extend the palette of design tools for the built environment.
The Mood Chair is on sale at GBP 1,800 plus VAT and shipping cost. Heart-bit Lamp
When you touch the sensor your pulse is transformed by the embedded software into lighting effects. People can experience their heartbeat and see their pulse represented trough ‘choreographic light’: it attempt to make ‘visible’ something ‘audible’, to make it, in a sense, more public and to share it. You can also make a gift of your personal Heart Beat to the person you love. The Heart Beat lamp uncovers perceptions, embodying them in a different medium, to engage with the user and educe feelings of connective human experiences. Silver Lining in a BoxInspired by the natural gleam of sunlight along clouds’ edges, Aether & Hemera's lamp mimics the effects of silver lining and plays with its meaning, also providing a memento for positive thinking in the current troubled times.
Silver Lining in a Box is also designed to be green:one manufacturing process and one material;
